Austria tries to preserve financial channels with Iran: envoy

TEHRAN, Aug. 12 (MNA) – Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Stefan Scholz said that his country tries to keep financial channels with Iran open.

He made the remarks on Saturday in Yazd City Council, Iran’s central Yazd province.

Austria understands Iran’s tough circumstances and do its part to find solutions for some of the new challenges, he added.

The European Union and Austria are determined to boost bilateral ties with Iran, Scholz said, adding that the purpose of his trip to Yazd is to develop ways to enhance cultural and economic relations with Iranian cities.

Criticizing US foreign policy, he said that the country has violated many international agreements during recent years.

Touching upon numerous meetings with officials of Yazd, the envoy hoped that these talks would pave the way for strengthening ties between the two countries and also stimulating more Austrian investment in Yazd province.
